POSTGRADUATE STUDIES is the third level of higher education in Ukraine, which trains researchers and academic staff for medical education institutions. The program leads to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in medicine.
During their studies, postgraduate students combine educational and research components — mastering modern research methods, conducting their own research projects, and preparing a dissertation for defense before a specialized academic council.

The educational program is focused on developing competencies in the field of medicine, in particular on organizing and conducting research, mastering innovative teaching methods, and applying modern methods of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in scientific activity. Research is conducted in the field of health care within the "Medicine" specialty.
The goal of the educational-scientific program is to ensure the training of highly qualified and competitive specialists in the field of health care, capable of generating new ideas for the scientifically grounded solution of complex problems in oncology, conducting scientific and pedagogical activity, and carrying out original independent research whose results have scientific novelty and theoretical and/or practical significance, as well as testing and practically implementing the results obtained.
The National Cancer Institute has all the necessary conditions for training candidates at the third (educational-scientific) level of higher education at a high scientific and methodological level — the necessary facilities and equipment for implementing the educational-scientific program, and highly qualified personnel for training competitive specialists in the field of health care and social welfare.
Researchers who teach educational components and supervise dissertation research have the appropriate education and professional qualifications, achievements in their professional activity, and publications in scientific journals included in the list of professional publications of Ukraine and in the Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection scientometric databases, and continuously improve their qualifications in accordance with the Licensing Conditions for conducting educational activity.
