The Academic Council of the National Cancer Institute is a collegial governing body for scientific and scientific-technical activity, performing advisory functions in this area.
Defining the Institute's development strategy and priority areas of scientific and scientific-technical activity;
Conducting scientific and technical evaluation of research topics and results;
Approving current (annual) plans for scientific research and scientific-technical (experimental) development;
Approving dissertation topics for applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the third (educational-scientific) level of higher education and the degree of Doctor of Sciences, and appointing scientific supervisors or consultants;
Approving the results of certification of research staff, postgraduate and doctoral students, and applicants, as well as the results of competitions for vacant research positions;
Nominating outstanding scientific works for awards, medals, and other honors, including international ones;
Conferring the academic titles of Professor and Senior Researcher on staff and submitting the relevant decisions for approval to the Attestation Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and initiating petitions for honorary titles;
Approving annual reports on the scientific and scientific-technical activity of the National Cancer Institute.
