The National Cancer Institute of Ukraine is holding a five-day training course, "Radiation Safety in the Use of Ionising Radiation Sources in Medicine: Specifics of Radiation Therapy Applications". Places are limited.
The goal of radiation safety in medicine is to fully prevent deterministic effects — radiation sickness, radiation burns, necrosis, cataracts — and to reduce the probability of stochastic effects, such as cancer and genetic mutations, to the lowest achievable level. The training focuses on exactly these practical skills.
The sessions are led by specialists from the Department of Ionising Radiation Dosimetry and Radiation Safety, the Centre of Radiation Oncology, and the Department of Radionuclide Diagnostics and Therapy of the NCI.
