Ukraine in the European EUCanScreen Project

Our Institute participates in the international EUCanScreen initiative, which aims to make cancer screening programs in Europe higher-quality, more effective, and more accessible.

What exactly is happening?

• Data is being collected across EU countries to build screening models and evaluate their effectiveness.
• New analytical templates are being used, allowing results to be compared and the approach to be standardized.
• The costs of screening and treatment are being discussed. Given the new possibilities constantly emerging in oncology, financial toxicity is a very significant factor.
• Cost tables are being compiled and forecasting scenarios developed — showing how much treatment costs at different stages and what resources are needed.
• Creative approaches to data collection are being proposed: in Latvia, for example, there are plans to involve students and doctoral candidates.

Ukraine's Role We present our experience and results at international conferences, share information with colleagues and patients, and organize training sessions and educational events. We also ensure transparent communication about our participation in the project through official pages and social media.

Why is this important?

• A unified European approach will make it possible to compare results between countries.
• Understanding the economics of screening makes it possible to make prevention more accessible, even in countries with different levels of funding.
• For Ukraine, this is a chance to integrate into the European scientific community, exchange experience, and improve patient treatment.
