The newly established National Cancer Institute Center for Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology has undergone a large-scale upgrade of its major diagnostic equipment. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the German government, patients now have access to the most advanced imaging methods, provided free of charge under the NHSU Program of Medical Guarantees.
MRI is an indispensable method for the detailed examination of soft-tissue, brain, and pelvic tumors. Computed tomography remains the "gold standard" in cancer diagnostics: at the National Cancer Institute, patients undergo more than 1,400 CT scans every month, free of charge, under the NHSU Program of Medical Guarantees.
The new CT scanner improves access to examinations and reduces waiting times not only for National Cancer Institute patients, but also for everyone referred to the Institute from other healthcare facilities.
The dermatoscope allows for highly accurate, non-invasive examination of skin lesions, which is critical for the early detection of melanoma and other malignancies.
Thanks to its "digital skin passport" feature, the device records all skin lesions and uses artificial intelligence to track their changes over time, allowing physicians to detect disease even at an early stage. The introduction of this technology makes high-tech skin cancer diagnostics available to every patient free of charge.
"Over the past six years, Ukrainian hospitals have received 273 units of modern diagnostic equipment: 236 computed tomography scanners, 37 magnetic resonance imaging scanners, and 21 linear accelerators. This represents the largest modernization of diagnostic infrastructure in Ukraine's history of independence.

The National Cancer Institute's Department of Diagnostic Imaging provides a full cycle of imaging services — from the initial detection of a tumor to monitoring treatment efficacy. In 2025, the department performed 16,680 CT scans and 3,426 MRI scans — the highest figures among healthcare institutions in Ukraine.
