An important event took place at the National Cancer Institute – the linear accelerator has been put into operation to provide highly precise radiation therapy for patients with cancer.
This project became possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Medical Procurement of Ukraine State Enterprise, which consistently contribute to the development of modern cancer care and the modernization of medical facilities.
The new linear accelerator, manufactured by the Swedish company Elekta, one of the world’s leading providers of radiation therapy equipment, will significantly expand the capabilities of the Radiation Oncology Center at the National Cancer Institute. The commissioning of this equipment will reduce the workload on the existing machines, shorten waiting times for patients to start treatment, and provide access to radiation therapy for more patients.
Linear accelerators are one of the key tools in cancer treatment. New equipment provides highly accurate irradiation of tumors while protecting healthy tissues as much as possible, which increases the effectiveness and safety of treatment.
The opening of the third linear accelerator is another important step in the development of the National Cancer Institute and the strengthening of cancer care in Ukraine. Our goal is to make modern, high-quality, and accessible treatment available to every patient who needs it.
